You’ll cover computer hardware, software concepts, user interface design and business analysis in a hands-on project based learning environment. - Computer Essentials—20 Credits
Learners will experience business planning, management and the various roles in a small start-up information Technology business. Practical project management methodologies and tools typically used in a small business environment will be looked at. Project plan’s as well as lifecycle methodologies used by IT professionals conforming to organisational requirements for small start-up business will be covered.
Business Essentials—20 Credits
Learners will obtain the knowledge to use Information Technology including design of a small IT service and support start-up company. There will be underlining knowledge covering computer components and peripherals as well as hands on with assembling a pc, after the computer system has been assembled learners will be able to install and configure the Operating system including security and user accounts. Microsoft office will be covered in this (Access, Excel and word) leading to the Microsoft Office Specialist external qualification (Not included). Legal, Ethical licensing covering all software will also be covered during this aspect of the course. Learners will also gain vital communication skills (Oral and Written) which will aid them in the work place.
Software Essentials—20 Credits
Learners will obtain an introduction to fundamental programming concepts, tools and languages as well as mathematical and logical concepts relating to programming variables. CLI (Command Line Interface) and IDE’s (Integrated Development Environment) will be looked at relating to programming. Website design, HTML and
basic scripting will also be a big portion of this module.
