Q. What Documents should I bring for the Course Consultation and Enrolment process at AMES I.T. Academy?A. You will need to bring a Birth Certificate or Passport and any prior qualifications relating to your chosen course of study. Also bring Proof of Address i.e. something that states your home address; a power bill, an insurance bill, bank statement etc.
Q. Is there an Entry test that I will need to take?
A. Yes, everyone that enrols for any course at AMES I.T. Academy that will be using a Student Loan (Domestic Students) for their study will sit an Entry test related to their chosen course of study.
Q. Do I have to apply for a Study Link contract before I start studying at AMES I.T. Academy? (Domestic students only)
A. Yes, a student loan contract must have been submitted back to Study Link before the start of your course.
Q. Who is eligible to apply for a Student Loan and Allowances?
A. Students who are New Zealand citizens or Permanent Residents are eligible to apply for Student Loans and Allowances. Student fees are protected by the use of a Trust Account in accordance with Section 253(1) and Section 256(4) of the Education Act of 1980.
NOTE: From 1 January 2011, permanent residents and Australian citizens will be subject to a two-year stand-down before they can receive a Student Loan. This means that they will need to have lived in New Zealand for at least two years and be ordinarily resident in New Zealand. Permanent residents will also need to have held permanent residence for at least two years to qualify.
Q. How do I apply for a student loan with Study Link? (Domestic students only)
A. You can go in person to your nearest Study Link office, free-phone or you can apply online. You will need to produce Proof of Address (e.g. power bill, bank statement), I.R.D number (Inland Revenue Department) and Birth Certificate or Passport.
Q. Do you have student car parking?
A. No, AMES I.T. Academy does not supply student car parking. There are several public car park buildings close by, there is street parking around AMES I.T. Academy and we are well situated on all major bus routes.
Q. Can I attend a morning class one day and attend an afternoon or evening class another day, continuously?
A. No, your class session will be designated as either morning, afternoon or evening and this will be your set normal class time.
Q. Do I have to be an experienced with computers to take a course?
A. No, you don't need to have a vast knowledge of computers before you start. You will gain the knowledge doing the course but having basic computer skills is a bonus.
Terms and Conditions
AMES I.T. Academy may cancel an enrolment if the information a student/applicant has provided proves to be false, incomplete or contains misleading information.
Students agree to abide by the rules, regulations and policies of AMES I.T. Academy as set out in the Student Handbook.
Fees: Fees must be paid in cash or by way of a student loan, arranged before a course commences. All relevant fees and charges due to AMES I.T. Academy for tuition fees, relevant external examination, assessment fees or any other fee that has been levied shall be paid before a Record of Learning or Certificate/Diploma will be issued.
Course fees received by AMES I.T. Academy prior to the commencement of the course are deposited in a Trust Account and held in that trust account.
Fees Refund: Are paid in accordance with the AMES Training and Resource Training Ltd. Refund Policy as stated in Appendix 01-08 of the Quality Manual. A copy of this policy is available to be viewed in the Student Administration Office. A copy is provided for your records on the first day of tuition.
Non-delivery: If for some reason that AMES I.T. Academy cannot deliver all or part of the tuition, the following provisions are made available:
a)Full or pro-rata refund of fees (dependent on amount of course delivered) or,
b)Transfer of students and their records to another provider (reciprocal arrangement).
Course Related Costs: Some courses attract a Universal Tertiary Tuition Allowance. Such funds may be used for but not limited to the provision of learning aids, library resources or to subsidise examination fees.
All enrolments are subject to the approval by the Principal of AMES I.T. Academy.
When dealing with personal information about individuals, AMES I.T. Academy is obliged to comply with the Privacy Act 1993. Information regarding students is shared with the various Government agencies where required by statute.
