Ames opens campus in Waikato

On Tuesday 30th June the official opening of the Ames IT Academy took place in their well appointed premises on the third floor of the Tower building above Centreplace in Hamilton.

The opening ceremony was graced by the Mayor of Hamilton, Bob Simcock. Also present were Hamilton City Councillors, local industry leaders, representatives of the NZ Police, educational institutions and social organisations.

Using the good offices of a local charitable organisation, an annual scholarship worth $7,600 was established and was awarded to a deserving local candidate.

This is the first Ames campus outside of Auckland where they are established in the City and on the North Shore. Hamilton was chosen because demographics indicate that it is to be the next centre of industrial and commercial growth.

Ames came to life in 1991 as a result of a previous recession and concentrates on IT training from level five up exclusively. As a Microsoft IT Academy Program partner and as a local Cisco Academy and CompTIA Course provider they can offer training to obtain international qualifications.

In conjunction with the local University and Polytechnic plus other PTE’s, they seek to help establish a local centre of excellence which can service local industry, commerce and education.

Small classes of ten to twelve students assure that there is plenty of student/tutor interaction. The results speak for themselves. At the conclusion of the first new Microsoft MCITP exams many students obtained perfect scores.
